The purpose of this component is to assist the provision of business development and skills training by providing subsidies to support the provision of agreed training courses.
Over the past few years a number of successful training courses have been organised, mainly in the areas of skills and personnel development as well as business management, largely using regional training staff. Because of the costs of providing this training (overseas tutors, accommodation etc.) these courses have been heavily subsidised. Continuation of this training is essential if the private sector is to be able to access the skills it requires to ensure its development and expansion. This component will ensure this training provision continues.
Funding will enable the provision of technical, service delivery, and managerial workshops, over the course of the next three years. Detailed training plans for each year will be prepared by the MDC following a training needs analysis, and the Montserrat Community College (MCC) will be commissioned to organise and provide appropriate training to meet these needs.
